Getting from Tulum Airport to Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Cancún

Tren Maya, ADO bus, ground transportation and car rental: your options for leaving Tulum International Airport.

The airport sits on a 10.5 km access road off Federal Highway 307. The drive to Tulum takes about 30 minutes; Playa del Carmen is about 76 km away and Cancún Airport about 125 km.

Tren Maya

The Tulum Aeropuerto station is next to the terminal and connects with Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cancún and the rest of the train route.

ADO bus

ADO runs services from the airport. Its most requested destinations are Chetumal, Mérida and Villahermosa.

Car rental

The most flexible option to explore Tulum, Cobá, Bacalar or Sian Ka’an at your own pace.

Tren Maya

Since March 2025, fares depend on the passenger category: special, local, national or international. As a reference, the Playa del Carmen–Tulum segment costs 93, 123, 185 or 246 pesos depending on the category. Check current schedules and fares on the official Tren Maya website before you travel.

Tren Maya also runs an intermodal bus and van service between its stations and the airport, departing every hour for 35 pesos.

ADO bus

Departures are adjusted to flight demand. Check schedules and buy your ticket on the ADO website.

Ground transportation

Federally licensed transportation services operate outside the terminal. Fares are not officially published, so confirm the total price before you board.

The shared colectivo vans that run along Highway 307 do not pick up passengers inside the airport.
