Currency Exchange at Tulum Airport
How to pay at Tulum Airport and in the Riviera Maya: Mexican pesos, US dollars, cards and tips for exchanging money.
Mexico’s currency is the Mexican peso. Arriving with some cash in pesos lets you pay for transportation, tips and small purchases as soon as you leave the airport.
Tips
- Exchange a moderate amount before you travel or withdraw pesos from an ATM.
- Credit and debit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and car rental companies.
- Some businesses accept US dollars, but the exchange rate is usually less favorable than at an exchange office.
- Downtown Tulum has exchange offices and bank branches.
Always ask for the exchange rate and the total amount before exchanging or paying in another currency. See also banks and ATMs.
